PARTICIPANTS, VOLUNTEERS, AND SPONSORS,

When you hear “Olympics,” you probably think about athletes who train and sacrifice for years to earn the right to represent their country in fiercely competitive games.

While the HISO Games are much more relaxed and downright fun; they truly do represent the “Olympic Spirit” of entering and doing your best.  That doesn't mean you have to be an expert to participate.  On the contrary.  We want you to participate in the Heart of Illinois Senior Olympics for the fitness, the companionship, and just plain FUN!  Remember that there is some “friendly competition” involved, but the emphasis is on being active, socializing, and having a good time.

Our 2009 HISO games will be held Thursday, April 30 to Sunday, May 3 - with a special 10 year anniversary opening ceremony kicking things off on April 30. There are over 80 athletic and fine arts events, plus several social events and fun challenge opportunities.

The Peoria , East Peoria , Morton, Pekin and Hollis Park Districts will host us during the four days at over 20 venue sites.  Over 500 men and women participating, volunteering, and socializing is a CELEBRATION.  We hope YOU will be part of the 2009 HISO Games, as a participant, volunteer, or sponsor!

Sincerely,

The HISO Board
